AssetMark said Thursday it is expanding into alternative asset classes, with new private market capabilities to be launched and made available to advisors and their firms in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The firm said it will integrate private assets into its managed solutions and discretionary programs. The initiative was designed to help advisors provide more “resilient, personalized portfolios” in what AssetMark called a “rapidly evolving investment landscape.”

The initiative comes as advisors are increasingly embracing alternatives as a growth engine for clients’ investment portfolios, viewing them now as essential, multi-purpose portfolio components and no longer just part of diversification strategies, according to the findings of iCapital’s recent “2025 Global Advisor Survey.”

“Private markets are no longer optional – they’re essential to building modern, diversified portfolios,” according to Lou Maiuri, Group CEO and Chairman of AssetMark.

“We’re committed to helping advisors access these opportunities in a way that’s intuitive, scalable, and aligned with how they serve clients today.”

He added, “This is about more than access – it’s about outcomes. We’re building a platform that helps advisors lead with confidence, no matter how the market or client base evolves.”

The firm said it is conducting due diligence on private credit, private real estate and private equity funds.

Some of AssetMark’s discretionary strategies will be allocated to private markets, the firm said, noting that will enable advisors to gain professionally managed exposure to the asset classes via integrated models.

Also, AssetMark’s UMA accounts and Adhesion Wealth platform will let advisors invest in semi-liquid private funds in a single custody account with public securities.

The program will provide advisors with educational resources, as well as managed, diversified portfolios that it said “allocate and rebalance across public and private markets.”

“We believe private markets can serve as a strategic core allocation that offers diversification from public markets while enhancing investor long-term goals,” said David McNatt, Executive Vice President and Chief Wealth Solutions and Strategy Officer at AssetMark.

“Advisors are looking for opportunities to expand beyond traditional asset classes but want to minimize complexity, along with access to liquidity,” McNatt noted. “Our goal is to make it easy, accessible and actionable – through integrated managed models, rebalancing tools, and digital client-ready communications.”
