Shannon Eusey, Chairman and Co-Founder of Beacon Pointe Advisors, joined the Advisory Board of AI and orchestration platform company CogniCor. The move, according to CogniCor, is to position the Advisory Board to accelerate its next phase of growth, focused on RIAs.

“Shannon has a well-earned reputation as a visionary, innovative, and deeply respected leader—the right voice at the right time as we shape the next chapter of our company,” said Sindhu Joseph, CEO and Co-Founder of CogniCor. “Our mission extends beyond helping advisors make faster or more efficient decisions. We are building the intelligence and orchestration layer that unifies fragmented data, coordinates actions across the wealth ecosystem, and enables every advisor to deliver highly personalized advice with consistency, scale, and confidence.”

Eusey led the launch and oversaw the growth of Beacon Pointe, helping it grow to over $62 billion in assets under advisement. The firm serves private clients, foundations and retirement plans, according to a news release. Before co-founding Beacon Pointe, she served as Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Roxbury Capital Management.

In addition to her new role with CogniCor, Eusey serves, or has served, on several boards, including Banc of California, the Charles Schwab Advisor Council, the TD Ameritrade Advisory Council, the CNBC Financial Advisor Council, and Scratchworks, a fintech accelerator.

“I understand where our industry is heading, and CogniCor has consistently been ahead of the curve in recognizing how AI can help advisors serve more clients without sacrificing the quality or personalization of their advice,” said Eusey. Beacon Pointe is a CogniCor client, she added.

Tech And Data Fragmentation Inhibits Scale

Platform providers like CogniCor face increasing competition from other wealth-specific providers and general-purpose AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT. However, these leading AI models do not solve one of the most significant threats to wealth management firms looking to scale, Joseph told WSR.

“General-purpose AI tools can be valuable, but they do not, on their own, solve the fragmentation of data and workflows within a wealth management firm. Many wealth-specific point solutions face the same limitation: they improve an individual task without connecting intelligence and action across the firm,” she said.

Using the example of a meeting-centric solution, Joseph notes that these kinds of point solutions may generate actions from only approximately 20% of relevant household data captured through meeting conversations and notes. Her platform was designed to work across all data sources, she explained, bringing together a reported 80% to 100% of the available household context.

“This allows actions to be driven by a more complete understanding of the client—not by one narrow slice of information,” she said. “Moving beyond incremental efficiency to meaningful productivity at scale requires securely unifying this data, generating relevant wealth-specific intelligence, and orchestrating the appropriate actions within existing workflows.”

RIA Focus

Bringing aboard Eusey represents a shift in focus for the AI-platform provider into the RIA space.

“RIAs represent one of the most dynamic segments of wealth management, but many are still constrained by fragmented data, disconnected technology, and workflows that become increasingly difficult to scale,” said Joseph.

According to CogniCor, RIAs serve approximately 30% of U.S. households, and the company believes AI can help these firms extend personalized, high-quality advice to a much broader segment of the population.

“We see a significant opportunity to unify fragmented data, surface intelligence at the household, advisor, and firm levels, and help RIAs grow while serving substantially more clients,” she said. “Shannon’s experience building one of the industry’s most successful RIAs will be invaluable as we deepen our understanding of these operational realities and bring CogniCor’s intelligence and orchestration platform to a broader range of RIAs.”
