Cambridge Names VP Of Infrastructure And Operations

Fairfield, Iowa-based Cambridge Investment Research appointed Erik Smyer to the role of Vice President, Infrastructure and Operations, where he will oversee the firm’s cybersecurity, infrastructure and hardware management. In this role, Smyer is tasked with advancing Cambridge’s cloud adoption, enterprise security and IT infrastructure.

Before joining Cambridge, Smyer served as IT Chief of Staff and Director of Global Infrastructure Design at onsemi, a provider of intelligent power and image sensing technologies. There, he led enterprise technology strategy and operations, supporting more than 30,000 users, and led the company’s infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation and M&A integrations.

Prior to onsemi, Smyer held the role of Director of Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering at Apollo Education Group, a provider of higher education programs for working adults. There, he led global cloud and infrastructure initiatives that strengthened the company’s ability to scale.

Smyer served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
