Wealth Solutions Report launched on April 5, 2021, with a mission to bring growth-empowering insights and analysis from industry experts to our readers. Celebrating our fifth anniversary this month, we take a trip down memory lane to the stories that resonated the most with you during each year.
The articles below cover a range of topics, from breakaway advisors to Pathfinder Awards in recognition of Women’s History Month. Advisor recruiting, always a perennial topic, features in two of them. And the oldest one brings back memories of the booming mortgage market of 2021.
We enjoyed serving you this past half decade and look forward to many more years of bringing you expert analysis, news that matters and awards for industry excellence.
Concurrent: How To Build A Platform That Advisors Love

In January 2025, WSR asked Joe Mooney, Managing Director of Advisor Engagement and Enterprise Development at Concurrent Investment Advisors, about what breakaway advisors want from an independent platform. He pointed to agility, rapid technology updates and advisor feedback as central to building an environment that helps breakaway advisors grow.
Mooney also said advisor engagement is likely to become more personalized, with platforms using data, analytics, community and practice management support to deepen advisor relationships.

Now in their fifth year, the Pathfinder Awards honor outstanding executives from underrepresented backgrounds in wealth management.
Our Pathfinder Awards continue to be a favorite among readers. Last month, we published 2026’s Top Women Industry Leaders, and in February, this year’s Top Black Industry Leaders.
Along with every installment of Pathfinder Awards, WSR also provides a platform for winners to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Client Leads And Referrals – The Latest Front In FA Recruiting Wars

In August 2022, we spoke with Dan Flynn, who at the time was Vice President and Head of Recruiting, Learning and Business Consulting at Prudential Financial, on recruiting through growth support. The article examined how client leads and referrals had become a more important part of recruiting financial advisors.
Advisor recruiting has remained a favorite topic for our readers throughout this past half decade. While M&A continues to absorb many advisory firms, new independent firms are constantly launching, which will keep recruiting at the forefront of news and analysis for a long time to come.
New Growth Opportunities With Mortgage Broker Alliances?

Phil Shoemaker, former President of Originations at Homepoint; Meg Hanington, Co-Founder of Beacon Partners; and Al Hensling, President of United American Mortgage Corporation, were among the voices featured in this May 2021 article on partnerships between financial advisors and independent mortgage brokers.
The story examined whether those alliances could open new referral and client service opportunities. It compared independent advisors and independent mortgage brokers, noting that both operate as product-agnostic professionals supported by larger platforms and service providers.
