The Financial Services Institute (FSI) launched FinancialCareers.org, a website that it said Tuesday was designed to attract newcomers to the independent financial services industry and provide the sector with Next Gen advisors.

The website targets students, recent graduates and career changers to let them know about opportunities available in the financial services sector, FSI said.

The website features educational resources and first-person insights into working as an independent financial advisor. It also highlights opportunities available at independent financial services firms in compliance, operations, marketing and other roles, according to FSI. The site’s career center connects qualified job seekers with employers and career opportunities in the industry.

“With increasing demand for financial advice and an aging advisor population, there is a growing need for new, diverse talent within the industry,” said Dale Brown, FSI President and CEO.

“The independent financial services industry offers an array of exciting career opportunities—whether you’re interested in fostering client relationships as a financial advisor or seeking a more corporate environment at an independent financial services firm.”

He added: “FinancialCareers.org connects our members with the future leaders of our profession to help ensure Main Street investors continue to have access to professional, affordable financial advice for generations to come.”

The FinancialCareers.org job board and career center is supported by job board software provider YM Careers and offers features for job seekers and employers, FSI noted.

Job seekers are provided access to career resources, insights and training, as well as professional development tools including resume review services and career coaching, FSI said. There are also personalized job alerts based on career goals and interests and those looking for jobs can directly apply for open positions.

Employers, meanwhile, are provided several job posting options including emails to job seekers registered via FinancialCareers.org. There is also social media integration to enhance job visibility, employer brand advertising opportunities and the ability to gain exposure throughout YM Careers’ network of almost 2,500 niche career centers, FSI said.

The website was developed in coordination with FSI’s Next-Gen Task Force, which FSI points out was created to “raise awareness about the independent financial services profession and attract the next generation of talent to the industry.”

FSI serves more than 70 independent financial services members and their over 130,000 affiliated advisors, who make up more than 60% of all producing registered representatives, it said.
