IFG Hires Steven Gensler To Lead Advisor Growth Strategy

Former LPL Exec Will Oversee Programs Designed To Support Advisors

Independent Financial Group (IFG), a San Diego-based independent broker-dealer, has appointed Steven Gensler as Senior Vice President of Advisor Growth and Development. Gensler will oversee the firm’s multi-year growth strategy and take responsibility for programs designed to support advisors, the firm said in a release.

“Steven’s combination of vision, innovation and hands-on experience makes him an incredible addition to our leadership team,” said Kevin Keefe, President and COO of IFG. “He understands how to equip advisors with the strategies, tools and support they need to thrive in today’s competitive environment, while keeping the client experience front and center.”

Gensler has more than 20 years of experience in financial services. He previously held senior roles at LPL Financial and Independent Advisor Alliance.

“I’m thrilled to join IFG at such an exciting moment in its journey,” Gensler said. “Helping advisors grow stronger, more scalable businesses has been a central theme throughout my career, and I’m eager to build on that here by expanding the ways we support them in serving their clients and planning for the future.”

The move comes after the firm added Keefe to its leadership team in April. His career includes senior roles at First Allied Securities, Advisor Group (now Osaic) and LPL Financial, as well as executive positions at BNY Mellon, BISYS, Fidelity Investments and NATAXIS. Most recently, Keefe was CEO of Realta Wealth.

Founded in 2003, IFG supports more than 600 independent financial professionals across 400 offices.
