Orion Advisor Solutions named Mark Mayo its CFO, the wealthtech firm said Tuesday, adding that the appointment became effective Monday. He replaces Daniel Applegarth, who became CFO of Carson Group in April.
As CFO, Mayo will be responsible for strengthening Orion’s financial infrastructure, overseeing its financial strategy and advancing the firm’s strategic roadmap, Orion said.
Mayo most recently served as CFO for DISA Global Solutions, a private equity-owned consortium drug testing provider. In Mayo’s eight years with DISA, he participated in growing its revenue and profitability via strategic acquisitions, organic growth and enhanced operational efficiency, Orion said in a press release.
Mayo’s experience also includes CFO roles at Connect America, HireRight and, over the course of 13 years, several divisions of General Electric.
“His extensive financial expertise will be an invaluable asset to Orion as we continue to grow and innovate so we can help advisors and investors thrive,” according to Natalie Wolfsen, Orion CEO.

“With Mark on board, we will further strengthen our financial strategies, ensuring sustainable growth and enhancing our ability to support financial advisors of all sizes and business models with expanded wealth management services and pioneering, investor-centric technology,” Wolfsen added.
"I am thrilled to join such a dynamic and innovative wealthtech leader at a pivotal moment in its growth journey,” Mayo said.
He continued, “Orion’s commitment to delivering exceptional value and service to advisors and their clients through a connected, disruptive technology and investment platform is truly inspiring.”
Orion serviced $4.4 trillion in assets under administration and $69.4 billion of wealth management platform assets as of June 30. It supports more than 6 million technology accounts and thousands of independent advisory firms.
In June, the firm introduced new standalone solutions and a new bundled offering. In May, it appointed Ron Pruitt as President of its wealth management division, Orion Wealth Management.
