Carrick Lane has named John Marshall, the former Head of Derivatives Research at Goldman Sachs, as a Senior Partner. He is initially tasked with strategy and product development for the New York-based investment manager and advisory firm that manages more than $3 billion. It specializes in options-based strategies for ultra-high net worth families, family offices and institutional investors.

“John and I have worked together for the better part of 20 years, building options strategies, debating markets and focusing on what generates client results,” said Co-Managing Partner Ken Kwalik. “That shared history, coupled with his market expertise, product experience and deep understanding of investors, will significantly contribute to our growth.”

“We have deliberately built Carrick Lane and have been thoughtful about who we bring into our partnership,” Co-Managing Partner Allan Kennedy said. “John brings an unusual combination of in-depth research, market judgment and product experience. He strengthens our ability to serve our clients.”

Marshall spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs, where he led the bank’s derivatives research team and published more than 4,500 trade recommendations. He also authored multiple research studies, including examining how conservative overlay strategies can enhance asset allocation.

The Carrick Lane team is “deeply experienced and has a disciplined investment process that is focused on client success,” Marshall said. “I’m delighted to help build upon that foundation as we develop strategies to help investors navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving financial market.”
