San Diego-based Independent Financial Group (IFG) added multiple advisor offices in 2026 through recruiting, representing over $1 billion in total client assets. The firm’s recruiting success in a competitive market will be among the topics discussed at IFG’s National Conference being held Aug. 5-8 in San Diego.

“We’re seeing a meaningful shift among experienced advisors who want more than scale. They want a true partner,” said David Fischer, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at IFG, who manages recruiting and onboarding. “Our strategy has never been about recruiting the most advisors. It’s about attracting the right advisors who value exceptional service, strong relationships and a firm that’s built around their long-term success.”

Earlier this year, the privately held broker-dealer added regional recruiters in the Mountain Region, West Coast, Midwest and East Coast, while also expanding its onboarding and transition team.

This year, the firm has recruited practices from LPL Financial, Osaic and Park Avenue Securities, among others.

“As advisors evaluate where they want to build the next chapter of their businesses, they’re looking beyond upfront economics,” Fischer added. “They’re looking for a firm that offers alignment, accessibility and a genuine commitment to helping them grow over the long term. That’s where IFG continues to differentiate itself.”

At its National Conference, the firm aims to educate, motivate and entertain attendees. IFG management believes advisors want to gain insight into the opportunities and challenges facing wealth management in an evolving industry, and will address that at the conference, including through sessions on advanced tax mitigation and income planning for affluent clients, as well as AI. To support culture and community, families are invited and encouraged to attend.

Founded in 2003, IFG supports over 600 independent financial professionals in more than 400 offices. It is the nation’s second-largest privately held broker-dealer and 14th-largest national IBD based on gross revenue, according to the firm.
