Don’t Let Clients’ Election Anxieties Distract Them
Published:

We’re less than six months away from a major election and emotions are running high. However, election years and the parties that win control of the House, Senate or White House tend to have less influence on the markets than other factors. Clients risk allowing their anxieties to drive their investment decisions to their detriment. This week, we hear from experts at Morningstar, UBS and Janus Henderson, who provide an analysis of election year investing.

We also bring you our weekly Deals & Recruiting Roundup, the advice of three Dynasty affiliates on serving women clients, ways to test cultural alignment with prospective buyers from Modern Wealth, Alaris Acquisitions and Summit Financial, SIGNiX on signature fraud, iCapital’s alternatives model portfolios and Dynasty’s recruits.

Deals & Recruiting Roundup: Meet our newest Recruiter of the Month, Thomas Goodson, Founder and CEO of The AmeriFlex Group, who discusses the firm’s acquisition of The W Source. We also cover Focus talks to combine Buckingham into Colony, WEG acquiring The Retirement Group, Osaic closing its Lincoln Wealth acquisition, LPL closing its Crown Capital acquisition, Wealthspire agreeing to acquire Walden Wealth Partners, Carson Wealth acquiring three partner locations, Dynasty affiliate DayMark adding the Hofstetter Baron Group, Integrated Partners promoting Andree Mohr to President, SFA Partners hiring Michael Bryan as Chief Growth Officer of Strategic Blueprint and Q1 earnings at UBS.

Election distraction: Investment and market experts say investors shouldn’t be making any major changes to their portfolios based on fears over the coming election results. We discuss election year investing with Ben Rizzuto, Wealth Strategist for Janus Henderson Investors; David Sekera, Chief U.S. Market Strategist at Morningstar Research Services; and Solita Marcelli, Chief Investment Officer Americas at UBS Global Wealth Management.

Serving women clients: To learn how advisors can better serve female clients, we spoke with three women professionals at affiliates of Dynasty Financial Partners: Adrianna Stasiuk, Partner and Investment Advisor at Aaron Wealth Advisors; Daniela Pedley, Partner at Summit Trail Advisors; and Caroline Wetzel, VP, Private Wealth Advisor at Procyon Partners.

Test the fit: Cultural fit is a difficult but very important concept for sellers of advisory businesses. We hear practical steps sellers can take to test cultural alignment with prospective buyers from Stan Gregor, CEO of Summit Financial; Jacqueline Martinez, Managing Partner at Alaris Acquisitions; and Jason Gordo, President and Co-Founder of Modern Wealth Management.

Signature fraud: Jay Jumper, CEO and President of SIGNiX, describes a potential increased regulatory focus on digital signature fraud, as well as evolving fraud methods and solutions.

Model alternatives: iCapital’s Multi-Asset Portfolio (iMAP) was announced by the company as the first alternatives model portfolio of its newly introduced iCapital Model Portfolios. Lawrence Calcano, CEO and Chairman of iCapital, and Dana D’Auria, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Group President of Envestnet Solutions, provide comments.

Dynasty recruits: Advisors Thomas Hofstetter and Daniel Baron, who managed $585 million in client assets at Wells Fargo, joined the Dynasty Financial Partners advisor network as the Hofstetter Baron Group of DayMark Wealth Partners. The advisors comment, as well as Shirl Penney, Dynasty’s CEO.
